Mah Jong Quest III: Balance of Life
Posted by Luna Cruz on August 19th, 2008 in Reviews

Who knew there were so many ways to play Mah Jong? I used to play it on our Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) when I was a kid. Mah Jong here refers not to the Chinese four-player game played on a table. The tile set is the same - bamboo, dots, Chinese characters, flowers, and others [...]

UNO - Undercover
Posted by Luna Cruz on August 18th, 2008 in Reviews

Whoever thought to mix UNO with James Bond is brilliant. I hadn’t played UNO in a long time (not since childhood), and was worried this casual game wouldn’t appeal to me. But it’s hard not to like!

Glyph 2
Posted by Nick Kojima on August 4th, 2008 in Reviews

In making Glyph 2, veteran game developer Sandlot Games has gone back and redeveloped their sleeper hit, Glyph, packing it with more features than you can shake a magic wand at. The result is the transformation of Glyph from a simple little run of the mill match-3 collapse game with pretty graphics into a sort [...]

Jewel Quest III
Posted by Poh Tun Kai on June 30th, 2008 in Reviews

I have to admit that match-3 games aren’t my favorite type of casual game (that would probably be adventure games) but I do appreciate it when someone comes out with a well-done specimen such as Jewel Quest III. There are some casual game types where you get a new lookalike product almost every day, until it becomes hard to distinguish between them. Not so with Puzzle Hero, one of a rather small category of hybrid puzzle-RPGs (role-playing games), in the tradition of Puzzle Quest. This sword-and-sorcery fairytale adventure adds 3D animated characters to [...]

The Sultan’s Labyrinth
Posted by Marcus Albers on June 27th, 2008 in Reviews

Any guy who is now either married or engaged to be is bound to remember that fateful day, that day when it was time to utter those five little words that could mean the difference between happily ever after and back to the drawing board: Can I marry your daughter? A thousand images ran through [...]

Fishdom
Posted by Luna Cruz on June 21st, 2008 in Reviews

Fishdom, according to the game, is “a place where dream aquariums come true.” In this game, you match tiles together to earn money, which you use to create and maintain a virtual aquarium. The simple gameplay and colorful graphics make Fishdom an easy sell. Plus, who doesn’t like fish?

Clue Classic
Posted by Xuanming Zhou on June 10th, 2008 in Reviews

Ever wished there were more people who played your favorite board games with you? Well, here’s an alternative: why not play against the computer? It has an excellent memory of the achievements you obtained playing the game, is a challenging opponent, and supplies a rich multimedia experience on top of the classic gameplay you know [...]

Little Farm
Posted by Guest Writer on May 27th, 2008 in Reviews

Little Farm is a beautiful piece of work from MumboJumbo and Hot Lava, which the former acquired about a year ago. It introduces plenty to the family of match-3 games. An obvious observation is that you’re matching four this time, rather than three, but that doesn’t make the game unnecessarily more complicated or tedious than [...]
