Hawaiian Explorer: Lost Island
Posted by Jianyang Tan on October 16th, 2008 in Reviews

Putting together a favorite theme and favorite genre, iWin seems to have come up with a game that would theoretically have been with great appeal: a hidden object title with plenty of exploration and adventure. Unfortunately, several stark flaws in the design and art department really take its toil on the gameplay itself.

Jojo’s Fashion Show 2: Las Cruces
Posted by Poh Tun Kai on September 9th, 2008 in Reviews

This sequel to Jojo’s Fashion Show may be full of fashion Do’s and Don’ts, but more importantly, the developers at Gamelab really know their casual gaming Do’s and Don’ts, too. There’s a lot of visual variety in the clothing styles, and the fashion theme is once again at the heart of the gameplay. Gamelab didn’t [...]

Mah Jong Quest III: Balance of Life
Posted by Luna Cruz on August 19th, 2008 in Reviews

Who knew there were so many ways to play Mah Jong? I used to play it on our Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) when I was a kid. Mah Jong here refers not to the Chinese four-player game played on a table. The tile set is the same - bamboo, dots, Chinese characters, flowers, and others [...]

Glyph 2
Posted by Nick Kojima on August 4th, 2008 in Reviews

In making Glyph 2, veteran game developer Sandlot Games has gone back and redeveloped their sleeper hit, Glyph, packing it with more features than you can shake a magic wand at. The result is the transformation of Glyph from a simple little run of the mill match-3 collapse game with pretty graphics into a sort [...]

Jewel Quest III
Posted by Poh Tun Kai on June 30th, 2008 in Reviews

I have to admit that match-3 games aren’t my favorite type of casual game (that would probably be adventure games) but I do appreciate it when someone comes out with a well-done specimen such as Jewel Quest III. As the third installment in the series, this game has quite a legacy to live up to, [...]

Helen Gardener
Posted by Jianyang Tan on June 17th, 2008 in Reviews

Being someone who has a liking for business simulations and arcade entertainment, click-management games have a special appeal for me, because they bring in nicely the best of both worlds. These games fix my cravings for fast-twitch action and management all at once. While Helen Gardener isn’t exactly anything too grand, I did still have [...]

Polly Pride Pet Detective
Posted by Marcus Albers on May 26th, 2008 in Reviews

The tenet of any true detective is to be able to find each clue, no matter how small or insignificant, required to solve the case at hand. And in a game such as Polly Pride: Pet Detective, the small and insignificant things are what will separate the true detectives from the Hercule Poirot-wannabees in the [...]

Cindy’s Sundaes
Posted by Nick Kojima on March 28th, 2008 in Reviews

Admittedly, when we saw the logo and name of Cindy’s Sundaes, we were expecting Diner Dash with ice cream. To be clear, that’s not this game. Then, when we started playing, we were expecting another bland match-3. Again, that’s not it either. Instead, the game is deceptively original, and a good bit of fun, besides.
