Sweetopia
Posted by Nick Kojima on October 26th, 2007 in Reviews

The common wisdom on casual games is that they should be easy, slow, and somewhat… sedate. Someone forgot to give Pi Eye Games the memo. Another entry in the “ball shooter” genre, this one takes a strong twist for the more frantic and visually stimulating. It is to Zuma what “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” [...]

Aquaball
Posted by Nick Kojima on October 21st, 2007 in Reviews

It’s another ball shooter. And it’s underwater. So at some level, you have seen this before. But don’t let that spoil your fun, because the developers knew all of this, and went out of their way to make this a fresh and original underwater ball shooter. I guess they like a challenge.

Atlantis Sky Patrol
Posted by Nick Kojima on October 19th, 2007 in Reviews

I have to admit, we wanted to dislike this game. There are just so many Zuma clones that the world can bear, and as a sequel to Atlantis, this is actually a sequel of a clone of a clone. That’s not a pedigree to inspire confidence in innovation. However, there is a surprising amount of [...]

Dynasty
Posted by Guest Writer on October 15th, 2007 in Reviews

When I first played Dynasty, I expected it to be just another ball-shooting puzzle game. However, once I got into it, it was clear that the developers had put an interesting spin on the genre. Inca Ball
Posted by Poh Tun Kai on May 20th, 2007 in Reviews

Inca Ball follows in the footsteps of the ball-shooter genre pioneered by Luxor, with trains of colored spheres rushing down twisty tracks while you try to shoot the right colors to create matched sets of 3 or more balls. It’s a tried and true formula that Sahmon Games doesn’t deviate far from. What sets this [...]

Dragon

Imagine if you will a Chinese food menu of casual game genres and themes. In the “genres” column, we have Ball Shooters, Breakout Games, Matching Games, etc. In the “themes” column we have Aztec, Egyptian, Asian, Cute Urban Life, etc. Looking at this menu, you can almost plot every game that has come out as [...]

Dinner and a Game
Posted by Sara Schweid on February 16th, 2007 in Features

Who doesn’t want a tiger as a pet? I mean, a loyal tiger friend would be pretty useful – warm and cuddly when watching TV, yet ferocious and good for intimidation when you need to teach a lesson to that annoying neighbor who loves to keep items he borrowed from you indefinitely. But he needs [...]
