Ah, the carnival. Wandering clowns with silly props, huge doughy donuts, shoot the duck pellet games, and a glorious goldfish to carry home with you afterwards. Spin and Play manages to bring you that same fun experience, without the heat, crowds, or vomit. Finally!

The game is basically comprised of a giant wheel that has a different mini-game on every spoke. Like roulette or wheel of fortune, you take a big spin, and then round and round it goes, ultimately landing on a mini-game or a special space. The mini-games are all modeled on classic carnival attractions, which is amusing and nostalgic, and the gameplay is simple and fun. Usually the games only take a matter of seconds to complete and you can take another spin.

You play for points, but you can also win extra spins by playing well or landing on the right spaces. When you run out of spins, it’s game over and your score is saved on the high scores list for that mode. Speaking of modes, there’s three of them—sort of. They really only consist of different numbers of starting credits, although surprise mode does mask the spaces on the wheel until you land on them (not that it matters much since the spins are pretty random anyway).

One thing that bugged me a bit was that some of the games are entirely based on chance. Not a lot of skill required. But if you’re the kind of person who enjoys a good spin of the roulette wheel or you tend to be lucky, you won’t mind that at all. In any case, it’s only a few of the games that have this issue, and there are a lot of games to enjoy.

Whatever your gaming skill level or experience might be, odds are good that anyone can sit down and enjoy this cheerful and happy little game. It’s simple and fun to play, and even younger children and tech-illiterate grandparents can enjoy it. Take a spin of the wheel and check it out for yourself.
