Once in a while we like to review other types of casual games, such as Flash, multiplayer, or online. We know our readers spend a good amount of time and money playing games (just like us!), but we rarely receive anything back other than pure enjoyment. So when we heard about a quiz game that actually pays its players in real dollars for correct answers, we were like… “Whaaaaat?”

But PayDayTrivia does exactly that. It’s basically an online quiz site, where you answer five questions on a topic such as Movies, Celebrities, Technology, or Geography. You can choose to do a Sprint quiz, where you’re under time pressure, or a Search quiz, where you can search the Web for the answer using their sponsor Ask.com. The quizzes can get difficult, let me tell ya. Even with the whole Web at your fingertips, it might be hard to figure out, say, the number of volts in the filament power supply of vacuum tubes in power amplifiers. So prepare to dig deeper than the first page of results to find your answer. That’s how it is in the real world: you want money, you need to work hard to get it.

‘Course, you’re reading this because we mentioned money, right? What PayDayTrivia does is give you points for every correct answer you get. You also get more points by answering faster in the Sprint quiz. If you ace the quiz (meaning you get a perfect score), you take a free spin of their Jackpot wheel - think the Price is Right with dollars or points as the options. That’s where I earned my first dollar - just by spinning the wheel. Easy, right? Well, if you don’t ace a quiz (and chances are, you won’t - again, the quizzes are tough), you need to collect 500 points before you can spin the wheel.

The good news is that PayDayTrivia is free to play, as it’s supported by advertising (and the legitimate kind). The bad news is you need to be a US resident over 18 to collect dough, and a minimum of $20 before you cash in. But with their average user taking 40 quizzes and spending an hour on the site per day, and the jackpot being almost $200 while I was there, it may be worth your idle time to check it out. There was one user getting 33,000 points _that day_ - I felt like such a loser. But hey, at least I still have my dollar.

Jeff said,

I played it and found it to be very entertaining. In only about 10 minutes, I won $6. Not too bad at all. I’m going to keep playing and hoping I can win the Jackpot.
