Why would you want to do house chores in real life when you can easily do it in a game? Nanny Mania will fulfill your fantasy of being able to complete house chores and babysitting in a matter of minutes!

Nanny Mania is a sim game where you’re the nanny to the household of the Mayor of Suburbia. Your duties include having to clean the house, pick up after his HADD kids, cook, change diapers and feed the baby. I think the right word here would be pandemonium.

Mercifully, this game is easy enough to play and pick up. You can skip through the tutorial and still be able to ace the game. The controls are easy enough. Anything that needs your cleaning attention will be highlighted yellow. Clicking on the item will send your character into a cleaning frenzy. That’s the best part of this game. The character’s movement and animation makes the game feel very fast and not draggy. Well, it IS house chores and I can imagine it being a real torture if the character dawdled along. Another great feature I am thankful the developers thought of is chaining tasks. It eliminates the need for me to micro-manage my character and track her every movement.

Progression wise, I wished the developers injected more content and levels into the game. As the Mayor’s offspring grow in number, his house unfortunately does not. I would expect the house to change, but even with 4 children, all the family members still remain in the same house. There are subtle changes in the house; like the different allocation of rooms, the increase in number of furniture around the house and most significantly – the amount of mess left behind by each family member!

I liked the look of the game, which coming to think of it isn’t anything new. It looks a lot like The Sims at first glance, but in Nanny Mania, the camera is closer to the house and you get to see more details. There are strange things that do occur, like how you can walk in on the mom while she’s having a bath, or how the dad can change while the nanny is around making the bed.

This game is easy and it’s a whole lot of simple fun. However, there isn’t enough development in terms of gameplay to make me boot this game up and play it again. If there were a bit more levels or things for the nanny to do, it’ll probably stretch that $19.99 that was put down for this game.
