Imagine a domino set and a mahjong set went and made sweet porcelain tablet love somewhere, and had a secret love child. That would be Mah-Jomino. The concept is refreshingly original, and people who like dominoes will be especially amused. The basic idea is that you are matching open ends of dominoes that have been stacked like mahjong tiles. The twist is both simple and elegant.

However, as cool as this idea is, it suffers a bit of a learning curve. Often you will think you have a match, but you are looking at the wrong end of the domino, something you are not used to thinking about in Mahjong games. For people who play a lot of Mahjong, you will do this a lot. Enough to be very frustrating for the first few levels.

As for the story, have you ever wanted to fly around the earth in an enormous zeppelin playing dominoes and searching for precious artifacts that lead you to the forgotten Atlantis? Really? Can I have some of what you are smoking? I have no idea how they came up with the stiry, but for all it’s weirdness, it makes strangely compelling reading.

The biggest flaw is easily the endgame. When you get to the last few dominos, if there are no moves left there is no simple fix. The only solution is to press the undo button a few dozen times and start again. That gets real old, real fast. That being said, if you are looking for a new twist on Mahjong, don’t mind being challenged, and you’ve got a thing for zeppelins: This is your game. Enjoy.
