There just aren’t enough good casual bowling games out there. And this Christmas season, Mumbo Jumbo has tried to do something about it with Elf Bowling 7 1/7. Good for them. Better yet, for a holiday themed casual bowling game, it’s pretty sweet. Shame we didn’t get around to reviewing it ‘till way past Easter… But that’s how it is sometimes.

All too often casual games feel like they were pushed out with a “just do enough to get it done” kind of attitude – but not here. There are movies, specials, and goodness knows how much funny script all added to give the game a fun and “Christmassy” character. The game has bunches and bunches of arenas to bowl in, providing a lot of varied challenges. You can play in story or challenge mode – and multiplayer as well, which is refreshing in a casual game. Progression opens a bunch of fun pickups and specials – all of which make the game a lot more interesting than a straightforward bowling game.

The graphics are high quality – and the game runs well even on very low-spec computers, so it’s a good choice for the young ones you may have at home looking for some simple Christmas fun on hand-me-down computers.

We could go on, but the truth is, it’s just mindless bowling fun done well. You’d have more fun playing it than reading it – so download it already. And have a Merry (very late) Christmas!
