Remember Kudos, the life sim game that lets you make meaningful choices for your sim’s life? (If you missed it, check out our review of it here. And read our interview with developer Positech Games while you’re at it!) If you did miss Kudos, it’s what The Sims would be like if you put some purpose into it. Received well by different review sites and portals, Kudos deserved a sequel - and a sequel it shall have.

Positech Games just released screenshots of Kudos 2, which comes out on their website in October 2008. Described as a “strategic life-simulation game”, Kudos 2 lets you control a character from their 20th to 30th birthdays. Each day, you choose an action for the character - what job to take, friend to see, food to eat, or TV show to watch. Your decisions influence your character’s happiness, which is your ultimate goal - just lead him or her to a better life.

Easier said than done, but this turn-based game boasts of complex AI behind your character’s personality and moods. Every nuance of your character is simulated and modeled. If you’ve played Positech’s other games such as Democracy, you’ll know the super-complex strategy going on behind the scenes here.  And this time, your actions can make or break a sim’s life!

Kudos 2 comes from Cliff Harris (the sole designer and coder, of ex-Lionhead fame) with artwork from renowned comic artist Jamie McKelvie.  Check out their official website or stay tuned to Casual Review for updates on Kudos 2!
