Playrix Entertainment, creators of such games as The Rise of Atlantis and Atlantis Quest, have put a whole lot of love and care into a virtual tankload of aquarium fish in their latest game, Fishdom.
Much like other aquatic-themed match-3 games, such as Big Kahuna Reef, Fishdom challenges you to match undersea-themed tokens in a series of puzzles with added complications as time goes on, such as locked tokens blocking access to other parts of the puzzle. The gameplay will be quite familiar to any casual gamer who’s ever matched 3 tokens together.
The real beauty of the game, however, comes from the collectible and fully customizable aquariums you can build between the levels, by using cash you earn in each level to buy fish, decorations and accessories for each of the 3 themed tanks in the game. You can arrange and change nearly a hundred different items until you have the aquarium of your dreams, and you can even set up one of your aquariums as your screen saver.
From what we’ve seen of the game, the fish are lovely and lively, swimming around with little thought balloons to indicate when they want more comforts for their watery home, or little hearts popping up when they’re happy with their playmates and decorations. In fact, we’d say the “virtual aquarium” part of the game is going to be more addictive than the match-3 gameplay, and that’s saying something considering that the match-3 game is no slouch either!
Fishdom is due to launch officially on the 18th of June, and you can bet we’ll be ready with a review as soon as it makes its splash online.
