Our friend Encore has a new game in the works, Beebo Deluxe, which is not just a colorful and fun game of bee productivity, but also part of an effort to help protect honeybees from Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).
Beebo is a busy little “beeficiency expert” who travels from one bee hive to the next, helping his friends to improve honey production and just be better at being bees! To do this, colored honey has to be placed in the right honeycomb cells. This amounts to a match-3 game played not on a regular grid, but on a board of hexagons. That’s the basic game mechanic, sweet and simple.
As Beebo goes about his work, he earns points with which to purchase collectible items from “Bee-buy” for his hive. There are also 8 puzzle mini-games and 8 unlockable levels to discover. All in all, there are more than 64 levels to play, and you’ll be able to play in normal Story Mode or the more uncomplicated “Endless Mode.”
Encore is working with the Pollinator Partnership and the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign to promote honey bee health and fight off CCD. To that end, a portion of the proceeds from the game will go towards honey bee research and studies of CCD. So you won’t just be having fun helping the bees, you’ll be helping the bees! Just try this demo version of Beebo Deluxe here, and watch out for the full release of the game!
