I remember when glorified math calculation games passed for edutainment, and you were lucky if there was any game at all in your "educational games." Well, educational entertainment has come a long way since those days, and if your regular favorite games are too complex for your children or you don't want them spending lots of time on videogames, AlbyMedia's Merry Motors is perfect for you.

Merry Motors has 9 separate game areas, each based on a different type of transportation, with three subgames in each area. The subgames, while fun and lively, are clearly aimed at pre-school or kindergarten age children and aren't much of a challenge for anyone older than that.

The nice thing is that there's tons of variety from subgame to subgame, and each of the 27 games you can play teaches your child different skills. Some games help with pattern recognition or motor skills. Some games are clever remakes of classic games like hide and seek or memory. Other games help your children learn their colors.

The game itself is very colorful and happy, with voiceovers to explain each subgame and cheerful music throughout. Despite the lack of challenge for someone my age, I couldn't help but smile and be entertained by the overall presentation.

AlbyMedia clearly knows how to make an excellent product that's educational and fun at the same time.
