One of the best things a game developer could ever do is release a sequel that’s way more awesome than an already awesome game. You’re in luck today, because this article contains twice as much awesomeness.
Democracy 2 by Positech
Enjoying the heated US political season? Neither are we. Try your hand at doing it yourself with this great political simulation game from Positech. “Based on a complex Neural network, the game simulates the motivations, loyalties and desires of everyone in the country. As president or prime minister, it’s your job to balance the need for income from taxes against the demands of the voters. Do you want your country to be an eco-friendly green paradise? or a socialist utopia? Will you pander to the patriots, the liberals or the religious pressure groups? Can you keep crime under control without destroying the civil liberties of your citizens?” Sounds cool? Trust us, it is. Go give it a look.
Astro Avenger 2 by Sahmon Games
“In the decade since the Global Political Crisis, mankind has entered its second golden age planning to expand the man’s presence further in the Galaxy. But all the plans for the prosperous future crashed with the abrupt appearance of the hostile alien fleet destroying everything on its way.” Oh, isn’t always the same? Just when you’re getting your Golden Age groove on, along come the hostile aliens destroying everything in their way. Sometimes the human race just can’t get a break.
Astro Avenger 2 is the full-on, turned up and tricked out sequel to the original Astro Avenger, and if you’re into the classic space scrollers, you have no real excuse for not getting into this game in a big way. 50 levels in 5 worlds, 35 units and 15 types of weapons – it’s a metric cartload of gameplay and all of the fancy pants effects you can shake an astro-stick at. As you play you can build your ship by collecting plazma (yes, they spell it with a “z” – it’s not my fault), and collect bigger and better weapons. Half the fun of the game is tricking out your Avenger to go out and kill some aliens. Go. Download. Enjoy. You have been told.
