It’s Indie Monday again, and we have three exciting games from companies you may not have heard about. These are all really great games, and you should definitely have a look. Indie development is where you’ll really see the risks and the creativity, so remember to support the little guys. This time, several of our games come from Independent Games Festival entries, so you can download them and play them for free (we love you that much).
Naked War by Zee-3
I’ll bet most of you have never tried playing a game by e-mail, but it’s quite a fun experience, especially if you have a friend that shares your passion for games but lives far away. In Naked War, you can each take control of a squad of four soldiers and use a variety of weapons and vehicles to blow each other to smithereens… all one turn at a time and in stunning 3D! Very cool if you’re too busy to play more time consuming strategy games. [Website]
Ex Machina by Dead Man Games
Ex Machina is an independent games festival entry which will have you Sci-fi fans jumping for joy. You play as a computer virus trying to overtake a space station by infiltrating and using various computer systems throughout it. Some systems have anti-virus protection and require you to play a Pac-man style maze minigame to gain control of the circuit. The 3D graphics and neat interactions you can have with robots make it feel like you’re actually slowly overtaking the station. 2001: A Space Odyssey, eat your heart out! [Website]
Penguin Adventure by High-5 Explosion
In Penguin adventure, you take the role of a brave little penguin on a mission to rescue his mother from the evil polar bears! Armed with nothing but his trusty umbrella and a host agile penguin tricks he sets out on his quest. It’s a very cute game, and best of all, it’s free! [Website]
That wraps it up for this Indie Monday! Enjoy your games, and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling of helping out the little guys (and seeing creativity that might be too risky for larger companies).
