Indie Monday

Full Article

Cameron Sorden

It’s Indie Monday again, and we have three exciting games from companies you may not have heard about. These are all really great games, and you should definitely have a look. Indie development is where you’ll really see the risks and the creativity, so remember to support the little guys. If you’re not digging all the holiday games that abound this time of year, consider keeping the indies afloat this season and pick up one of these as a gift for someone.

Fashion Cents by My Game Company
Their company name might not strike you as very original, but their game sure is! In Fashion Cents you dress up paper dolls according to color matching rules and get money for completed outfits. It’s simple, fast, and disturbingly fun. The perfect gift for anyone with a secret doll obsession. Even better, you can download updated fashion packs free of charge from the company website! [Website]

Bullet Candy by Charlie’s Games
Bullet Candy is basically Asteroids, but on crack. It’s a rotating shooter game with crazy fast movement, spastic enemies, and gorgeous visuals. One more cool thing: They do away with that “coasting” space ship convention. Your controls are responsive, precise, and you can turn on a dime. Anyone with a love of intense space action or just plain old ADD should check this out. [Website]

The Exchange Student by Pan Metron Ariston
This one is really interesting. It’s half cartoon, half point and click adventure game, and all about an Italian exchange student trying to meet girls in Sweden. It has full voice acting and pretty decent animation, and the writing will have you chuckling throughout the experience. Just remember: If you get stuck, alt+F4 kills the game. A good time if you like to take your time or eat while you play games. [Website]

That wraps it up for this Indie Monday! Enjoy your games, and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling of helping out the little guys (and seeing creativity that might be too risky for larger companies).
