It’s Indie Monday again, and we have three exciting games from companies you may not have heard about. These are all really great games, and you should definitely have a look. Indie development is where you’ll really see the risks and the creativity, so remember to support the little guys.
Plasma Pong by Steve Taylor
At first glance, you would assume this was just a flashy pong knock-off, but you’d be very wrong. In fact, the ball rarely actually touches a paddle in this game. Instead, you propel it back and forth by using skillful bursts of colorful energy. It’s a fast-paced and gorgeous game that’s a blast to play, and you should definitely check it out.[Website]
Tilelander by Ludimate
Tilelander, by Ludimate, is a neat little game of the kind where you’re drawing lines to “close off” areas and trying to fill the map, destroying enemies who get trapped in your enclosures. What’s cool about this one (besides a very polished finished product) is that the game only goes as quickly as you do, so if you’d rather sit back and play strategically, you can. Very cool. Wu Hing: The Five Elements by Kudos Games
Wu Hing is a very deep and interesting strategy tile-placing game. The tiles correspond to five elements: Fire, Water, Metal, Wood, Earth. Yin and yang are gained in moves and countermoves, and the central idea behind the game rewards balanced as well as skillful gameplay. This one will keep you busy for a long time; that’s a promise. That wraps it up for this Indie Monday! Enjoy your games, and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling of helping out the little guys (and seeing creativity that might be too risky for larger companies).
