We have a nice mix of really creative games for you today: a matching game with a neat twist, a deep and addicitive life simulator, and a nostalgic and cute 3D platformer. All three of these were done exceptionally well, with the kind of polish that you often see lacking in Indie Games. If these three titles haven’t made their way onto your radar yet, then you have some work to do (if you consider playing totally awesome games as work).
D.N.A. by 5th Cell
A strange matching sim that looks more science project than game. You are tasked with finding and matching multiple DNA to create hybrids of color. The chain-reaction qualities of the matching gameplay are a lot of fun, and will likely change the way you think about matching games. Well, maybe a little bit. You also get to hang out with a hot lab assistant and genetically modify flowers – so that’s cool too. [Website]
Kudos by Positech Games
If there’s one thing Cliff Harris does well, it’s making deep and compelling games that will keep you addicted for weeks. Kudos is just such a game. You get to take control of a simple 20-something who’s barely scraping by, and shape each day of their life into a bigger, brighter, friend and cash-filled future. It’s great fun for the little control freak who lives inside all of us. Make sure to check out Cliff’s other games while you’re at his website, as they’re also tres cool. [Website]
Dodge That Anvil! by Rabidlab
It’s always nice to see a big shot of creativity explode onto the casual scene, and Dodge That Anvil is creative and fun . Taking a page from classic cartoon style, you play as a rabbit who runs around the 3D stage avoiding obstacles and collecting carrots. Watch out though, because every few seconds dangerous anvils drop out of the sky! Collect powerups and special turnips to help you on your journey. It’s as weird as it’s fun, and totally worth a few minutes of your time to at least try. [Website]
That wraps it up for this Indie Monday! Enjoy your games, and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling from helping out the brave people who take the risks and make the fun, original, and always creative games you love to play, because they love to play too. Check back soon for more great features and reviews!
