Flash Friday: Tower Defense Edition!

Full Article

Nick Kojima

Today, a special themed edition of Flash Friday. If you haven’t played any of the tower defense style games yet (and if so, what on earth have you been playing?), we’re here to help, with the three best flash-based tower defense games we know of. Prepare to lose some serious productivity, as we prepare to stop the creeps. Stand firm!

Desktop Tower Defense
Developer: HandDrawnGames.com

Taking the “cute angle” to these games, this posits you as a guy defending your desk against a bunch of scribbly things. It has all of the requisite features, and is one of the more solid versions of the genre. Suggested for people who like their games simple, cute, and very indie. [Play]

Vector TD
Developer: David Scott

For those who like their graphics old-school-cool, this is a great little game. The neat twist here is that the enemies (vectoids) are all color coded. Towers have strengths and weaknesses against different colors, so you’ll have to pick your colored towers wisely. This one is strangely more compelling than the screenshot might lead you to believe. [Play]

Onslaught
Developer: Gaby Vanhegan

The “all singing, all dancing” version of tower defense: Don’t be fooled by the simple clean graphics, this is a very deep version of the game. Not only does it include a whole upgrade system and a number of powerful towers, it includes a complex “tower-linking” system that gives you special bonuses for linking towers of certain kinds together. The end effect is some serious tower mayhem. Our favorite of the bunch. [Play]
