Flash Friday Returns!

Full Article

Nick Kojima

We have had a lot of requests to bring back the infamous “Flash Tuesday” – and because we were looking for an excuse to play some more flash games anyway, we’ve decided to play ball. However, we have decided that the best time to play Flash games is likely at work on a late Friday afternoon, so we’re changing the day and making it “Flash Friday”, which sounds better anyway. So, to the dismay of office managers around the world who already know nothing gets done on Friday afternoons, here is the triumphant return of Flash Tuesday. Say goodbye to your productivity for a while.

To start off the return of the series, we bring you some interesting and tantalizing level-based puzzle games. We’re big fans of these games, because they show a real love for complex design and craftsmanship. As you play these, keep in mind the time and effort that developers put into crafting intelligent puzzles for you – this work is neither easy nor well paid. This kind of hand-built craftsmanship is a pleasure to see and play, and it’s always fun to see who is smarter – you or the designer.

Jelly Blocks
Developer: Michael Le

It’s Tetris. No, it’s Jellyboom. No, it’s something completely different. Though it does seem trivially easy at first, keep with it for a while. Before you know it, it’ll be a few hours later, and you will be truly addicted. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. [Play]

Open Doors
Developer: Ozzie Mercado

A seemingly simple puzzler, you drive a block around a set of blueprints, trying to get through a number of doors that only swing so far. The first few levels fool you into thinking it’s a breeze, but that’s doesn’t last long. Lots of levels, lots of fun. No stress puzzle gaming at it’s best. [Play]

Kinetikz
Developer: Andromedus.com

While not a grid based puzzler, this is a classic pool-style shooter, which encourages you to shoot pucks at a target, avoiding obstacles and using tools. The music is great, the gameplay smooth and easy, and the puzzles challenging without being frustrating. A great example of a one button mouse game done well, it’s definitely worth some of your time.
