It’s such a patently obvious theme: Aloha Tripeaks meets Lost meets Mystery Case Files. Yet, like all the best ideas, it’s only obvious when someone else does it. And despite the somewhat Chinese-food-menu approach to design it takes, the overall game takes the best elements of all of its inspiration sources and creates an original and compelling experience that is pure casual fun.

The main game is billed as solitaire, but that’s a bit misleading. It’s a lot more like mahjong with a deck of cards, since what you are really doing is matching numbers in a large layout of cards. The game is trivially simple – click on things that look the same – but sometimes simple is addictive, and this is the case here.

The supplemental game is an I-Spy-style search game that shows up every few levels or so, set in various mysterious locales on the island. These are instantly familiar to anyone who has played any of the Mystery Case Files games (read, anyone who has ever played a casual game), but they do not suffer for their unoriginality. They are well done and serve as a welcome break to the constant card-clicking.

The production values are all very solid. The graphics are serene and beautiful, with the levels being strong across a number of idyllic island locales. The music is similarly relaxing, and helps to pull the whole game into a great package. If there is a problem with the game it is that the levels are pretty easy, and you’ll find yourself at the end of the game pretty quick. If you’re looking for a challenge, this is probably not your game, but who goes looking for challenge in a solitaire game?

In all we like the game, and think you will as well, especially if you are looking for something slow, mellow and relaxing with a hint of story. Go check it out and see for yourself.
