About

Casual Review has 4 simple rules:

We only review games we like.
Since most of us have experience making games, we have a lot of respect for game developers. Making even a poor game is a lot of work, and we just don’t have it in us to trash someone’s games. Instead, we have decided we will respect developers by doing what our mothers always told us, and not saying anything at all unless we have something nice to say. To that end, we only review games that we actually recommend you download and play. That way, you’re not wasting your time reading a review of a game you’ll never download, and we’re not trash talking products people tried hard to make. Everyone wins, and our mothers are proud.

We are honest in our reviews.
That being said, once we decide we like a game, we will give an honest appraisal of the product, and will tell you what we liked or didn’t like about it. We’re hoping that this lets our users know what may irritate them in a game before they waste time downloading it, and also gives casual game developers some feedback for improving their games. We’re never mean, but we’re always honest.

We don’t waste your time.
We know you can download and play the demos of these games just as easily as we can. We see no point in a 30 minute synopsis of a game you can be playing yourself in 3 minutes. We just want to get you enough information for you to decide whether you want to check it out or not – and generally, we think you will. There’s a lot of games out there, so read less, play more!

We’ll find our users something new.
You can go to the big portals and see the top 10 games yourself. You don’t need us for that. Sure, we’ll review the big games and keep you on top of the best new stuff out there, but we’ll also go back in the back catalogues and find forgotten gems you may not have found yourself. We’ll go to the little sites, and the indie developers who are doing some really innovative things, and make sure we get you the best games from that scene as well. We’ll make sure that you get the scoop on the big blockbusters, but you’ll also get to see some of the games the big portals don’t want you to see as well.

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right way to go about it, but I couldn’t find an email contact for you guys (well, I did, but it no longer works), so here I go:

I am with the casual gaming website Cafe.com. We’ve really enjoyed reading your reviews, and are hoping you’d be willing to take a stab at our site! I don’t know if you’ve already heard of us - we’ve been featured on techcrunch, casualgamerchick, and various other sites - but Cafe.com’s combination gaming and social networking structure is pretty unique among casual sites, and I believe we’re right up your readers’ alley.

If you’d like to review the site, I invite you to use the promotional code “casualreview” when you register an account to recieve a bonus 3000 cafecoins (used to purchase powerups and whatnot) for free. This freebie is also extended to your readers, so feel free to include the code in your review!

Thanks, and I hope you’ll enjoy Cafe.com!

Hi -

We’d like to see if you’d be interested in reviewing our award-winning social networking game “EGO”. The game can be found at http://www.ego-city.com. We won “Most Innovative Game” at GDC 2008 and are starting to really grow.

We think this would be interesting for you and your readers.

Thanks and let me know if you need anything else.

My best,

Hello, I thought I’d drop a line and let you know about a great new game that would be attractive to your users. The game is an online trivia game found at http://www.PayDayTrivia.com.

It’s unlike anything else on the web. It’s kind of like Pogo meets trivia. It’s free to play, users take quizzes across a broad range of categories, earn points for correct answers and then use their points to spin the JackPot Wheel.

Our users seem to love it with the average user taking 40 quizzes per day while spending 55 minutes per day on the site. Given this positive reaction, I thought your users might want to know about this game. Is it possible that you could do a review of the game?

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

All the best,

Hi,

Not sure if this is the place to do it but other people seem to be so I thought I’d give it a try… I’d love it if you would review the game I just released called Multiplayer Memory Mayhem:

http://nonoba.com/lucklaboratories/multiplayer-memory-mayhem

It’s a real-time, non-turn-based version of the memory card game. And the multiplayerness of it makes it pretty exciting and addictive (if I do say so myself!),

Please check it out and let me know what you think :)

You guys have the most useful service in casual gaming. Congrats! It’s really frustrating how hard it is to find really good games through the search engines and all the portals hype fhe big developers.

I wish I was cool enough to have my own game to plug, like everyone else (it seems), so I’ll just give a shout out to my personal favorite, http://shades.playsleuth.com It’s the only mystery game I’ve found that actually feels like real detective work and is still fun!

Hi!
I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you about Nordgame.com, on which (TODAY actually) just opened up the beta of our international server! This is big news for us and I thought perhaps you or some of your readers might be interested. So instead of spamming your forums I decided to contact you this way :)

Nord is an free to play online casual game in 3D, focusing strongly on community features. You could say it’s a high tech version of habbo but with more focus on gameplay:)
We’ve been running in Sweden for roughly a year and are now slowly opening up our new international server in beta. Please have a peek!

Thanks for your time! //Theodor Waern

Hi, you guys should write reviews of the games at http://www.playandwin.co.uk. Good stuff there. Top games include Balloon Buster 2, Pearl Shooter and World Trader - a great monopoly-clone.

Hi
I have just launched my first iApp ‘Keek on a Crab’ and would be interested to hear what people make of it. Keek on a Crab is quick, funny, clever, and rude. Rab, the unlucky Crab, who lives in the rock wall below Luke’s Lifeboat Station, is hiding among the stones on the beach. You play the role of Gannet, the incontinent seabird. Scroll around the beach and if you’re lucky you might catch Rab scuttling from one stone to another. If you spot him, click to ‘keek!’
It is the first App from the television series Lifeboat Luke, a search and rescue adventure series set in the Irish seaside town of Donaghadoo. The series follows the adventures of a young lifeboat and his cast of friends as the rescue the improbable, the reckless and the irresponsible. You can find out more about the App and Lifeboat Luke at http://www.lifeboatluke.tv
I look forward to hearing any feedback
All the best
Tim
