The Mystery of the Crystal Portal
Posted by Luna Cruz on July 31st, 2008 in Reviews

Move over, Indiana Jones - you’ve got Nicole Rankwist on your tail. Call me biased, but it’s rare for me to see a female player character who isn’t the stereotypical “cute” or “vivacious”, and Nicole is neither of those. She’s a smart, serious-looking New York journalist, and daughter of a famous archaeologist who’s gone missing [...]

Laser Dolphin
Posted by Poh Tun Kai on July 17th, 2008 in Reviews

Don’t mess with Flipper. He’s got a laser, and he’s not afraid to use it. That’s the simple and yet incredibly appealing idea behind Laser Dolphin, an arcade-action game that gives you shooting, swimming and jumping activities across the oceans of 4 worlds, on a mission to save the Prime Minister from aliens, somehow. Just [...]

Farmer Jane
Posted by Jianyang Tan on July 16th, 2008 in Reviews

Farmer Jane may be another time-management game with the farming theme, but it does a sweet take on the graphics department. You’ll be treated to some simple, lovely 3D graphics that fit nicely into the game. It’s well-integrated and taken advantage of, sporting camera panning in level introductions, and a selection of customizable clothes (in [...]

Ranch Rush
Posted by Jianyang Tan on July 15th, 2008 in Reviews

Ranch Rush could be easily dismissed as another “typical” farm management game, considering the number of them released as of late. The game’s title doesn’t sound like much either, but if you’re willing to look beyond that modest first impression, just ten minutes into the gameplay and you’ll be quite fascinated.

Mystery Cookbook
Posted by Marcus Albers on July 14th, 2008 in Reviews

If there was one thing that I learned from watching movies last year, it was that rodents are responsible for some of the finest cuisine in the world. The story of a rat who longs to be a great chef should be strangely familiar to those that have given Mystery Cookbook a try. Similarities between [...]

Sunshine Acres
Posted by Jianyang Tan on July 12th, 2008 in Reviews

In terms of game design, Sunshine Acres takes after Farm Frenzy, another solid title released not too long ago by Alawar. The game is essentially fast-paced time-management, where the focus is on building up your productivity, rather than just completing tasks. Each level lasts usually around four to six minutes, but within that short time [...]

Ancient Quest of Saqqarah
Posted by Luna Cruz on July 11th, 2008 in Reviews

Get this game. Right now. Download it right now. Everyone I have shown this game to has loved it, and they’ve all shown their friends, who also loved it. It’s that kind of game.

Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes
Posted by Marcus Albers on July 10th, 2008 in Reviews

I’ve played quite a few hidden object, or seek-and-find, games in my time. They have ranged from the so-so, such as The History Channel Lost Worlds, to the excellent, like the Mystery Case Files series. There are certain things that I look for when evaluating these games, such as the quality of the graphics, the [...]

Obulis
Posted by Poh Tun Kai on July 9th, 2008 in Reviews

Sometimes it takes an original game concept to put the bounce back into our step. In the case of Obulis, it’s simply the idea of cutting a few ropes and watching colored balls fall, bounce and roll through increasingly complicated levels. IonFX has had plenty of experience in making these cunning physics-based puzzles, since there [...]
